47 Chrashler at First Car Show

Hi all, just got back from the Lilypad Cruisers 7th Annual Show and Shine. About a 100 vehicles showed up, I was in the first 50 so I got a dash plaque.

The weether is great about 80 and sunny, we left early as my 6 yo son was getting antsy after a few hours.

There were some beautiful cars, with fantastic paint jobs, engines etc, I was the only old 40s Mopar, no other flatties, my car looked like a piece of junk around most of these great looking restos, but I still had a lot of people lookin at the car and asking questions.

As you saw, Fred, your car got lookers and questions even without the

shiny paint job. I once took the convert to a cruise in missing a bunch

of interior stuff, no top, and I can't recall what else. Thought

it looked pretty crummy. Still had lookers.

Glad you enjoyed the show. Often times, we may be the only old

Mopars there.

Tim you are bang on, actually a number of older folks remebered these cars, 1 guy said he learned to drive with a 48 Chrysler.

I met a guy, about 70 years young, he has a few Mopars, a 47 D25 sedan, a 1950 Plymouth, showed me pics, but he did not bring the cars. He was complaining about how the flatties are hard to start, and how they get fuel vapor lock in summer, he seemed to be a real negative guy, no wonder the cars weren't there.

There was this either 1922 or 1926 Studebaker, Model (not sure of the #), it was a roadster, it was still in primer, a cool old car, the the owner only had the car going at 40 mph down the highway to the show.

Lots of Furds, Chebbys, and 70s muscle cars. There was a real Cherry 1932Ford , with a SBC and 671 blower,tubbed wit the big wide tires, a real beauty.

Oh well even if mine was the roughest there, I still had fun, got some attention to the car, and drove the 11 miles there and back no problem.........fred

That's great Fred. What fun! Don't sell your car short, it's looking good and it's really unique. You see lots of nice tri-five chebies, musclecars and stuff but seeing a car like yours, being driven, is something special. Now you just need to learn how to quietly grin when someone says, it will look good when it's done...":)

Everytime I visit your stable I spend a couple of seconds each looking at all the cars in your fleet and envisioning them as being finished.

So am I Don...so am I...lol still popping back and forth from on to another...but all how it all has to get done...no big deal..I did not finish or should I say did not even work on the Tiger as long as I had the Porshce on the road...was not a great need..it sat in primer for 3 years under a cover back of the shop..only when I sold my Porsche did I get antsy and start working it..even at that I did the 1941 Dodge pickup first. I like the cars..have 11 licensed vehicles here at the house..just I don't drive them to be more honest, I perfer working and building them than driving them..I really ought to get another Porsche..that was the most fun car I had..held the road like a slot car...well...the Omni GLH was a lot of fun but the cops would turn and follow me every time I was out with that car...go figure..they never once messed with the bright red Porsche..maybe it reminded them of the jelly filling in a doughnut and they bee-lined it to a Krispy Kreme..

Well..the weight loss is at a very slow pace..actually only 1/2 a pound this past week..but..the important part is the management of the blood sugar..and no weight gain..with the 35 lbs of fat already lost, it allow the insulin that my body does make be used more efficient..I think I need to up the exercise a bit more to lose a few more pounds..I have not had a doughnut in over two months..precious few sweets at all...I just this morning had pancakes..special glouten free with sugar free syrup...hopefully this will bide will with me...altering my diet has been a good thing..and I have about gotten to where I don't even think about the stuff I used to junk out on...
