Don't have one but I do have experience with lots of hondas. My first was an 87 Civic Si hatcback. It got well over 35 on the highway but since gas was under a dollar whocared. I drove 44 miles a day, a fillup of the 12 gallon tank was 9 bucks. and I could get a week and half from a tank. Next was my 94 Accord 2dr. This had the 2.4 liter Vtec (variable valve timing) Engine, with a 4 speed automatic. This car got 33 highway at 70+ mph. My daughter had a 2.2 liter 93 Accord 4 door with a standard that gotbetter than 35. She and her friend took a trip and got over 425 miles per tank (about 14 gallons) before that she had a 88 Acura integra 5 speed that got over 30 going back and forth to college. She still has the 94 Accord, and still gets in the high 20's on her 35 mile round trip stop and go commute in Florida.

car now has 154K, and uses 1 qt of oil between changes. My father had a 90 Civic AWD drive wagon with the 1.5 engine and he was getting about 37 with it.

The fit is a 1.7 V tec engine. My borther is a service manager at one of the local Honda dealers. he says he has heard no customer complaints regarding the fit except for one guy who is dissapointed in its power.

We have been considering a used one to replace my wife's Subaru, but there aren't many around as it seems no one wants to give thier's up.

In the mean time I will struggle along with my VW Jetta wagon that gets 35 on the highway. I am going to be making a grill blocker for it to clean up the air flow on the front end. There is way to much grill opeinng. I can cover the top grill, to make it a bottom breather, and pick up 2 or 3 mpg on the road.

I will not have a little car again, I had a 87 CIVIC, we hadn't even made the first payment on it, when I was broadsided by a 70's Caddy. It took everything from the middle of the drivers door back off the car. The driver of the Caddy was off probation before I got out of the hospital.

Our son got a new Chevy AVEO and I rode in it to our daughters house yesterday, I felt like I was in a sardine can.

My 2003 Honda Civic gets about 35 miles per gal on the freeway! I think this is pretty good for a car that when I bought it cost 13,500 plus tax.

Gas isn't antwhere near high enough for me to own/drive/ride in one of them.

I would take public transit first and that won't happen either.

Did I mention most of those tiny cars are butt-ugly?

I have had more than a few 1987-1993 Ford Mustang 5.0's. They make great torque, damn near 300 ft-lbs in factory trim and they're light as hell. Vehicle weight must be a much larger factor than engine size when it comes to fuel economy. Those cars always got in the high 20's on the freeway, and would still average at least 20 mpg in combined city/highway driving with my lead foot making the tires squeal at every light. That's a car where you can definately have your cake and eat it too.

I am just putting together a new motor for one, a 306 with a supercharger making 10 psi boost. It runs 8 60 lb. fuel injectors (stock injectors rated at 19 lbs.) Anyway, I have been talking to a bunch of folks who have all said that I should still be able to top 20 mpg on the freeway...I can't wait to see if they're right.
