greg g Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Don't stand at the rear. Perhaps one of these Victory Sirens is mounted on the roof of a tall building near you. 134 Db (and that is just the hemi exhaust) with a range of 4 miles. Hearing impairment courtesy of the good folks from Civil Defense. Duck and cover!!!!!! Quote
kevinanderson Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Boy, we need one of them in Eastern Nebraska tonight. Quote
mackster Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 I heard one loud air raid alarm in my life...it was so horrific and awe inspiring I do not like the sound at all. sometimes I hear them on the radio when a new hit song is being played and it's just so scary to hear it again.. I don't know if it was the same sound as that one but boy, I don't want to find out! Quote
martybose Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 The only thing missing from that trailered unit is the turntable that they sat on. There was a second clutched drive from the hemi that engaged a gear that rotated the unit. Most of these things had a one gallon LPG tank that would run the engine for several minutes; you just start it up and leave. Marty Quote
greg g Posted June 12, 2008 Author Report Posted June 12, 2008 Well if there really was incoming, all you had was several minutes I guess. Quote
