ignition switch light

On a p15 does this light come on with the headlights? On all our later plymouths its only with the parking lights but mine was on with the headlights as well. So while I am re-wiring if that was wrong I'd like to correct it.

To be honest, I think that light is about useless. It's supposed to be there to help you locate the ignition in the dark. In my opinion to be effective it should come on with the dome light when you open the door.

However, to answer your question. Mine comes on when you turn on the lights. Never used the parking lights by their self so don't know about that, but would assume it comes on with both the parking lights and headlights.

this can be easily fixed to turn the light on and hold it on all the time the foor is open..then when the door is closed the charged capacitor keeps this ign switch light on and as the voltage is bled off..the light goes out..common halo lighting on the later model cars..the device is about the size of old style foresence tube starter...this should be workable either 6 or 12 volts but to be honest I have never tried it on the 6 volters...

Mine comes on with the headlights.....stays on all the time lights are on.

Haven't paid attention to see if it also works with parking lights.

Not a problem as it's not all that bright.

I do not have interior courtesy lights or dome light, so could not hook it up

to that switch.

I think it comes under the heading of one of those things that's "no big

deal".

If you think this light does not work try sticking your key in the switch in total darkness. Guess you have to drive your car after dark to know this:rolleyes:

Did not say the light doesn't work. Just that it only works when you turn on the headlights or parking lights. It should come on when you open the door like the dome or under dash courtesy light does. You shouldn't have to turn on your parking lights or headlights.

I probably could do the wiring change myself too. But.........like you said before I don't drive the car at night, so it's not that important to me to make it work that way. Sort of like the radio. Don't listen to car radio's anyway, so why pay to have it fixed in the coupe.

Wiring it into the door switch would be ok except I believe I only have a switch on the passenger side. So it would be kind of a waste that way.
