Any advantage in painting new exhaust system with heat resistance paint?

Has anyone painted their new exhaust system with a heat resistance paint? I know that rust usually works from the inside of the muffler and pipes, so painting the outside really doesn't stop that, but I'm curious if anyone has painted their exhaust pipes and muffller anyhow. Ed P.

Several years ago I put headers on a 66 Chevy truck I had. I was told that using a vht paint (red, yellow or orange) on the inside would prevent them from rusting from the inside out. Something about oxide in these colors. Don't quite remember.

I think that longevity of hi-temp paint comes down to prep, same as any paint job. Mine is coming off, but I just gave the manifold a quick wire brush. Probably if I had prepped it properly it would last better.

Or it could be the chicken poop that was all over my manifold when I got it. LOL!!!!!

When I got my manifold from George Asche it had his famous red paint. I had it sand blasted to remove the red and painted it silver right out of the blasting cabinet.
