door handles

I noticed while working on my truck that the inside door handles are different. I know I can swap them around, but my drivers handle is mounted at 7:00 o'clock and my passenger handle is at 1:00 o'clock. What are others doing and which is correct??

Do you mean physically they are different or they are just pointing different directions?

Can't help with which direction was factory on a pilothouse. They were usually positioned where they were the lease likely to be snagged while driving and get an accidental door opening. In my truck I just put them where I banged my knee on them the least!

If you push in on the trim escutcheon behind the handle you'll see a round pin going through the handle. Push the pin out-remove the handle from the shaft and rotate it to the desired position and reverse the procedure to reinstall. Mike

I had the same question a while back and went looking at various pictures to see the orientation on other trucks. My consensus was that they should point down and toward the back. I also just looked through a bunch of photos of my truck project and I had a couple of shots of the inside door panels. Both handles were pointing down and back. (8:00 on a driver door, 4:00 on a passenger door)

even though I prefer the up position I thought down must be correct. When it's in the up position it places the door handle very close to your hand when you crank the windows.

Here is a picture of my door taken to show someone the gasket but it does show both handles.

Yep, just thin grey carpet. Not stock but it beats brown cardboard.

My floor has the same carpet.

Here's how I mounted mine. I think I took the lead from Don Bunn's book. Like others, I looked at the photos of just-out-of-the-factory trucks.
