I know a few of us have these on the site, myself included. Was doing a little research on something else and decided to check out the 55-56 specs in a book dad has. The 55-56 plymouth lists the 2bbl as an option and as having a carter carb which is what mine has. The 55-56 dodge lists it as if it was standard equipment on the 6cyl cars and lists a stromberg carb. Also apparently the stromberg was worth a few more HP. Both 57 flatheads only list the 1 barrel.

My resources report the same as you. The difference you are missing is in the '57 to '59 models the compression was increased (head shaving) to gain extra horsepower that was gained in the prior years with carberation, thus allowing the manufacturer to go back to the cheaper single barrel carbs.

I have actually seen a Chrysler factory two barrel manifold setup on a flathead in a 3 ton truck. Sure would have liked to get hold of it but next time I went by the truck was gone, probably to the salvage graveyard. This was years ago but I have never seen another.

That 3ton truck have 1 2bbl or the 2 1bbl setup? I've seen the dual carb versions a few places.

Here are 2 pictures. One picture of the Factory twin carb 413 engine in a 1953 Dodge truck- 4 tonner. Another picture of a factory 1958 Dodge 900 series truck (354ci.) Hemi twin carb setup installed on a 1952 Chrysler 331 Hemi.

The factory flathead in the three ton truck had two single barrel carbs on it. I didn't make that clear in the first post. It would have been a direct bolt on for any of my cars as the Canadian cars all have the long block. Probably won't get another chance to pick one up like that!

The Dodge truck 2-1/2 tonners (1953-57) W/the 265ci. flathead were the only trucks that had the twin 1bbl carter carb setups that everyone wants to put on the long blocks.
