A possible chroming source in CA.....

Saw an ad from these people on ebay......Chromabonito company in

Rowland Heights, CA. Is that close to anyone? They are trying to

sell a re-chromed 46-48 Plym front bumper for a buy-it-now of

$240. They say the regular price is $340 to $400 -- I guess that

applies if you send them a bumper to be chromed.

I know nothing about these folks, just tossing this out here as a

possible source for that service. Here's a link to their ad with a

phone number and email address. They also want a good bumper

as a core. Link to ad: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1946-1948-PLYMOUTH-FRONT-BUMPER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33640QQihZ004QQitemZ140214421228QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

There's about a 50-50 chance that the bumper in question may be my old one, since I recently bought a pair of bumpers from him for my 47. He managed to send me the wrong rear bumper the first time, and never did manage to send me the bumper bolts that I had to purchase from him, and he didn't bother to cut off the washers they weld to the backside of the bumpers to hang them in the soup. Plus the packaging has to be seen to be believed; there must have been 4 rolls of tape holding the cardboard together. All in all, it took more time, and cost me more money is shipping costs than it was supposed to.

That said, they sure look nice on my car, so check back with me in 3 or 4 years to see how they are holding up!

I got one from them a couple of months ago for my 49 Suburban. It was only $180. So far so good.

I just took all my stainless in, bumpers and bumper guards. The quote I got was $1600 to polish all the stainless, take all the dings out, straighten the bumpers and rechrome.

I called around the So Ca area and it was like they all agreed $300 to rechrome or $300 to buy one and leave one.

I figure it would be silly to put a great paint job on the car and then put beat up chrome.

I took the stuff to a guy in North Hollywood - got quotes from Van Nuys, Palmdale. Just felt more comfortable with the NH guy.

Hey all you southern california guys, A & B Polishing & Chrome, in Montclair is real cheap and good , stands behind his work and does it pretty fast. His address is 8940 Benson Ave, Phone 909 949 8228 his name is Apolonio Barbosa. He doesn't do mail order stuff, and is hard to get on the phone. The guy did all of my stainless on my coupe for $300 bucks, including the grill. Bumpers and guards were like $350 each He does nice work. Tony C
