Oil Filter Housing Disconnect ????

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I plan on disconnecting my oil filter housing soon to clean and paint it. Should I just disconnect the 2 lines after draining the oil out of the housing.

I also want to know what color it should be painted, I was thinking red body and black lid, or should it be black body and red lid. It is a partial flow filter, looks like it was painted yellow body and an orangish/red lid before.................................Thanx Fred

Thanx Ed, that looks like the colors on the filter now, but of course most of it is wore off already.

Iplan to paint the oil filter, the genny, and give the engine another coat of Mopar silver, should look spiffy after that...........Fred

Here is a pic of my engine last year, I have since put on new battery cables, soenoid switch, battery disconnect switch, new wiring etc.

I am going to paint this oil filter, the genny, give the fan and pulley a quick spray, and the oil filler cap, give the engine a new coat of Mopar silver, then put on new engine decals

You will find a wide palette of colors on the oilfilters. Remember many of them were dealer or aftermarket installed. And several different brands were used.

I have seen the tan body with the red orange top, solid blue, solid black, solid red. solid orange, orange and black, both ways, blue and black, black and silver, green green and black. So I guess its whater knocks your socks off.

Fred, I just did mine in all black......decided to make the engine and

attachments silver & black scheme. Except, of course, for that gold

linkage.....:) and the gold ah-oogah horn on the right inner fender. The

little chrome cap on the oil and air filter are plastic items from a truck

stop that also sells the chrome acorn nut covers.....
