oldmopar Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 I was doing a compression test # 1 went well then I remembered I had another compression tester easier to use. Not paying attention I had a long adapter on it from another project as I cranked the engine I had a crack or some sound at which time I remembered the adapter. Tried every know mechanical trick to get the adapter out. Threw a wrench accross the room used every cuss word I know even made up a few new ones but still could not get it out. Which is a good thing I guess because I really should see what damage I did. I plan removing the head Saturday I will then be able to get the adapter out I will screw down but not up. Well Hopefully I just bend the adapter it was brass but I guess also a good chance I damaged a valve. Ed Quote
Young Ed Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Ed you could pull the starter and turn the engine over backwards slightly. You could possibly also do this using a socket on the front hub without removing anything. Quote
oldmopar Posted February 13, 2008 Author Report Posted February 13, 2008 No way its coming out the way went in Ed, I did move the engine with the fan but the threads are either stripped or its bent or mushroomed under the head. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 OHOH Hope you didn't bend a valve then. Or do like my buddy did on his lawn mower and break the cam. Quote
oldmopar Posted February 13, 2008 Author Report Posted February 13, 2008 OHOH Hope you didn't bend a valve then. Or do like my buddy did on his lawn mower and break the cam. With the plugs out I can #1 valve go up and down through the plug hole so worst case is a valve. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Usually throwing a wrench works. Must really be in there. Seriously, hope you get it out with no damage. At least you get a chance to see your valves, etc. Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 Ed, You will have to do a lot better than that to take my title away from me. I know that I am Dummy of the century. Tony C Quote

JerseyHarold Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 If you can turn the engine so both the intake and exhaust valves are closed, maybe you can rig up a narrow nozzle on a shop vacuum and suck the debris out of there through the spark plug hole. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 Ed, If you had managed to hurt yourself while doing this, then your post would have belonged on the "School of Hard Knocks" thread. Quote
