BobT-47P15 Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Now, how's that for imagination???? And, a butterfly hood..... Quote
PatS.... Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Well, I don't know what to say. At least it's not in a crusher somewhere and maybe the next owner has better style sense. Quote
Kustom52Mopar Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 I like how they put 1947 Plymouth on the '88 chevrolet truck master cylinder and brake booster nesttled up in the engine compartment with a small block chevy. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 6, 2008 Author Report Posted February 6, 2008 After looking a little more, that front end and hood kinda look like a 40 Dodge or Plym. Quote
randroid Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Gents, Ahem. Anyone ever hear the expression, "uglier than a sack of assholes"? Well, you just got a look at the vehicle that pushed that sack into the Judge's arena. However, should I ever decide to re-indulge in the sins of my mis-begotten youth I could probably think that was the cat's pajamas, if viewed in the right light, but I'm not sure the person who decided to paint it that color ever saw a titty. But the car is really cool if for no reason other than the obvious quality and quantity of work put into it. The hood goes without saying, and the fenders have been melded to the body as has been the visor. That's a lot of doggonit work for a crew, much less than some guy who just wants to express himself, and I can only give kudos for the effort. If it were painted Cruiser Maroon ... -Randy Quote
Robin (UK) Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 That look really doesn't work for me. The steel pan at the front makes it look a bit buck-toothed. Kinda reminds me of another vehicle..... Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 now I know what would be uglier than my butt cheeks freshly hotwaxed.. Quote
knighthawk Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 now I know what would be uglier than my butt cheeks freshly hotwaxed.. I can only imagine!........or should I say ; afraid to imagine! Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 I think if you removed the sunvisor and that piece of stainless from the front of the car, it would look ok. Right now it looks like a train engine with a snow plow to clean the tracks with that stainless on the front end. Quote
1940Mopar Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 horrible.....I don't understand why people take one of the nicest styled cars of the period and mess with what makes the car an icon of the era. I have a couple of rules with regard "restyling 1. Don't chop anything from the year 1940 it may not look worse but it won't look better 2. Most cars post 1946 to 1959 have certain features that "mark" their characters and make them iconic. Don't mess with the icons. i.e the grill from a p15. the big but of a dodge from the same era. The steering wheel from a 1940 ford coupe. The fins on a 1959 caddy. you get my drift. Again horrible for what otherwise might have been a pretty nicely done car Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 6, 2008 Author Report Posted February 6, 2008 I don't mind the visor too much. It's that "air dam" or whatever below the front that ruins it....to me. Maybe it's needed to hold that hotrod on the road. Just the plain front end would seem better. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 that is the problem with the majority of shaved vehicles..nothing to break up the lines and add distiction...that front being super clean and flat would look even worse without the stainless...at least there is something to draw your eye to... Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Tim, I agree with Bob, that air dam or whatever it's supposed to be has to go. It just doesn't fit the car, especially being cut and installed the way it is. They could have frenched the headlights too. Would look better than the bug eye look it has now with the stock headlights. Would also still loose the sunvisor too, to give it more of a rod look. Overall I like the whole car except for the above. Those seats almost look like the seats my wife had in her 90 Sundance. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 french a side of the mountain and stick it in and pray for a landslide...frenching the headlight would only further the ugliness..at that time the ugly would cut to the bone... Quote
Allan Faust Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 horrible.....I don't understand why people take one of the nicest styled cars of the period and mess with what makes the car an icon of the era. I have to agree with you.... I always found the front end of the 40's to be gorgeous..... and although I don't mind modifications (chops on mercs and even the chops shown on the board here), there are mods that I can't stand (gassers come to mind... my apologies to those who like em, but its my opinion) and this front end is another one..... yes, the work done is "amazing", great fit, arrangement etc, but devolved rather than evolved, destyled rather than styled..... Allan Quote
Normspeed Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 I think as a street rod it could be saved but you'd have to take a sawzall to the front foot or so and rethink that part. edit: Tim, that comparison to your butt cheeks sure paints an ugly mental picture. yikes! Quote
