knighthawk Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Alright guys ! That's enough ! It's going to get down 19 degrees and strong North wind, tonite and tommorrow, they say 14 hours below freezing, !!!!! There goes all the trees ( just about fully leafed out ), my fruit trees, AND the lilacs ! Just think, a couple days ago it was 80 ! I just don't understand it. Maybe that's why in Canada , you don't have spring untill later ? So by then it;s there for good. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 It was only 95 here today, The weather man said that it is going to cool down tomarrow to 79. Hopefully the weather will be this nice next weekend for our open car show, here in Barstow. Dennis:D Quote
Allan Faust Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 We just got dumped on.... 6-12 inches of snow up here.... it was going in the right direction..... but then again, Quebec has been hit in general.... must be one of the 3 spring storms, the crow storm, the post storm or the barn storm..... or from the looks of it, all 3 at the same time. Allan Quote
knighthawk Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 O K , you lost me, what is a crow storm, barn storm, etc, ? Is this going to be any thing like that ''pigs and sticks'' thing ? Quote
1just4don Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Water puddles have ice cover again(all day long,,,not just nite time),pretty amazing when the wind is blowing 35mph(darn cold wind too). They were forcasting record all time lows last nite,,,havent heard if it made it but to gauge the furnace kicking in,,,it WAS COLD outside. My favorite place is right over the heat vent so it blows all over me as often as it can,,,with a blanket to catch and hold all the heat!! Darn shock to the system when it was 70's and 80's for a couple weeks. I realize that was too hot,,,but does it have to get THIS cold this time of year??? And the forcast says no respite clear to the end of next week. How does it stay so cold so long,,,this time of year??? And the vicious winds day after day to add insult to injury. Quote
knighthawk Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Here in Kansas, it's 40 degrees for high today, down to 20 tonite, the same for the next week ! At least theres no rain or s any more snow, ( I hope ! ) Quote
55 Fargo Posted April 7, 2007 Author Report Posted April 7, 2007 Larry, thats pretty dang cold, for this time of year, our normal highs here for this time of year are about 50 and lows about 25. Today it's supposed to go up to 30, went down to about 12 last night. There is a wicked north wind here, even getting me the Northerner cold, I've had enough of this $hit weather and longing for grass cutting on the riding mower, don't even feel like working on the car today and it's 60 in the garage with the heat on. Fred Quote
RobertKB Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Southern Alberta has been unseasonably cold lately like Manitoba. Both Lethbridge and Calgary have had snow recently and the wind is out of the north and cold. Had some nice weather a while back but old man winter is hanging on for a bit longer. Like Fred, I want to get my mower going, cut some grass, and enjoy warm days. I never mind cutting the grass as it means it is nice out and it sure beats shovelling sidewalks in the winter! Quote
PatS.... Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 This is getting real old real fast Robert. That bit of nice weather was too much of a tease. ENOUGH ALREADY!!! Quote
james curl Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Has been sleeting in central Texas all day, most is melting but begining to stick to the ground and cars, Its 35 outside at 6:20 pm so should be interesting tomorrow morning for sunrise services. Quote
anthonyb Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 James, In my part of central Texas it started as rain/sleet this morning then went to SNOW in early afternoon. We've had at least two inches and more falling. Supposed to be down around 29 tonight then back up to 80 on Tuesday. I can live with it either way. I just wish it would make up my mind what it wants to do! Quote
Allan Faust Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 O K , you lost me, what is a crow storm, barn storm, etc, ? Is this going to be any thing like that ''pigs and sticks'' thing ? Ok, the crow storm is the storm that comes around just as the crows come back.... the post storm is the storm that has the snow that sticks only to one side of the posts.... and the barn storm is the storm that no matter how you close up the barn, the snow still gets in..... and all in the spring..... once they've past, everything seems to warm up.... Allan Quote
knighthawk Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 O K , Allen, Now I gotta know: what if you got a storm, starting out with snow wet enough to stick to the posts ( on one side ), and a strong wind that blew the snow throu all the cracks in the barn, and there were some birds around before the storm( maybe they were crows ), would it be spring ? I assume then, that the crows only return on a special date ? Like the Sparrows of Capistromi ? Quote

I assume then, that the crows only return on a special date ? Like the Sparrows of Capistromi ? As I mentioned in my original post..... "or from the looks of it, all 3 at the same time." Yeah, the crows (or blackbirds... trying to translate from french) are some of the first birds to come back up north..... The whole point is that there is always a storm that until it is past, winter is still here (or seems to be).... even though its springtime.... Allan Quote
anthonyb Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 Try this on! Sunday morning - 29 degrees - 4 1/2" very wet snow. Tuesday afternoon - 82 degrees and not a cloud (or snowflake) to be seen. Gotta love this Texas weather. Quote
knighthawk Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 Only 40 some dgrees today, windy , , 2 days of rain, turning to SNOW tommorrow ! All the leaves turned black , buds all gone ! I think the ''pigs are carrying sticks'' and the crows are here, and it'll probabley be wet and windy !!! The good thing is that then we know it's the last storm and spring will be here !!! Right ? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 It's about 42 degrees f here in Missouri today (04/13/07) - raining. Possible snow. About like where knighthawk lives. Frost during the past week zapped the plants. I think the pigs laid down their sticks just long enough to put on their overcoats. Don't have a clue about the crows. However, if one drank enough of this - they might not care about the weather, at least for a while. Quote
knighthawk Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 It's about 38 degrees, windchill of 26, still windy, there was a bit of snow early this morning, supposed to be 49 this afternoon, 32 tonite...........guess there ain't no such thing as normal, anymore ! Quote
DutchEdwin Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 Sounds like it's cold at your places, the only ice we could think of today looks like this. We almost skipped winter, only had 2 weeks of spring, and now SUMMER is here, 28C (82F) :p Quote
knighthawk Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 After a few days of perfect 80 degrees, we get a nother cold front front, lots of wind and LOTS of rain, temp in the 60's , but still the really bad storms still seemto split and go around us, yet, just like last year ! I hope it stays that way . Quote
RobertKB Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Yup, hope you stay safe in your neck of the woods. Don't want to end up on some yellow brick road. Been really nice up here the last few days and I plan on taking one of the flatties for a run tomorrow. Quote
knighthawk Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 We've had about 4 days of rain, with more to come, at least all the leaves and buds that were killed in the frost last week , are finally comming back ! Quote
knighthawk Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 rain and more rain ! another four days days of rain comming, It's so wet , We got water standing on the hillsides ! At least we missed all the bad storms ( so far ). All this damp weather is bring back all those aches and pains , too !! Quote
