bkahler Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I seem to be missing the oil pressure line(s) from the gauge to the block. I can't even seem to find any pictures of what they should look like. Would someone be able to provide me with some detailed photos of the oil feed lines. Also, if one of you happens to have these lines as spares I'd be interested in buying them! Thanks, Brad 1951 B3B 218 engine Quote
brian hood Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Hey, I have a 53 B-4 w/ a 218. As a matter of fact, I was changing the oil feed line this weekend to a plastic one from a guage kit. It connects on the left side of the block by the block drain plug. Mine is broken, but it looks like a piece of copper tube. I read a post about the vacuum line to the distributor being made from brake lines. I think if you really want an OE look, you could probally bend and flair a 1/4 inch piece of soft copper tubing. I am certain that if you work with tubing, you should use refrigeration tubing. It is softer than water tube, and it is easier to work with. Good luck and let us know what worked. Brian PS. I am not a very good speller! Quote
brian hood Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Hey, I dont have a scanner. However, if you can, you should buy the book, Dodge B-Series Truck by Don Bunn. On Page 65 there is a shot of the oil lines. I think the one you are looking for is to the lower right is of the oil fill tube. This book is a great guide. Brian Quote
bkahler Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 Brian, I've got Don's book and had previously looked at that picture. Unfortunately its not the same block. Your earlier comment about using the oil galley tap by drain tap makes sense. I can see where the oil line has a splice connection prior to heading into the cab. I think I have a piece of tubing that has that splice so I'll try and dig it out tonight. The next question is how does it connect to the gauge, is it hard piped all the way to the gauge or is there any kind of rubber flex line installed? Thanks,! Brad Quote
greg g Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 on the cars there is a 4 inch long rubberpiecebetween the piece of line on the engine and the line connected to the firewall. This provides someflex for engine movement. Quote
Young Ed Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Trucks should have the same thing although my truck has been running with just a coil in the line. Quote
