as the dodge and DesSoto and Chrylser shared a frame I would think interchange between is likely ..however I think the Plymouth may be a bit more narrow...I will now walk to the barn with the tape measure...

REAR Bumpers:

as I was by myself and it is about 28 degrees out...P15 was 67 1/2 and the D24 was 71..approximate measure but close enough to show the difference in width.

Hola Tim

I looked for this person's name, type of vehicle or anything that would help to solve his question. The only hint is the "p15estep". Going with this, is to say the car is the Plymouth only rear bumper and the 1947 Chrysler bumper will stick out on each side with the Plymouth mounting brackets not matching the wider holes from the Chrysler bumper.

The other way if this is true with his car is to keep the Chrysler rear bumper and mounting brackets intack and then try to adapt the assembly under the rear deck where it is not seen.

I think by looking at the design of the P15 and the fact that it is shorter and yet has a substantial gap between the bumper curve and the fender at the outside corners would make the Chrysler bumper really stand away from the body..NOW..I am not familar with the Chrysler bumper but if he had a Dodge bumper..these could be easily adapted I would think due to the fact that they are 3 piece thus the mount holes in the center section could be redrilled to fit a Plymouth body..both have similar gravel pan curvatures. P15 bumpers can be found..but not in pristine condition..best route may best be to source a core and trade it in for a rechromed model.

P15 bumpers are around. I've accidentally started collecting them :)

Notice how much farther the 47 Chrysler bumper comes around the sides

It is definitely larger than a Plymouth. Would be different for sure.

a picture really shows the difference. so i guess the chrysler and dodge are probably interchangable but defintely not the plymouth. still not so clear about a desoto. well thanks to all.

here is a fact from the MoPar Streamliner book...the DeSoto and Chrysler has the same rear stone deflector..with two different styles between the model line up...

as for bumper bars..with the subtle style difference the numbers will never match nor give hint to overall width..but as most bumpers cover the stone defletor..it may be safe to say DeSoto and Chrylser the same width...

all four were the same years 1937-38 with two different styles..

some models between:

Plymouth and Dodge 1940-41

Desoto and Chrysler 1942
