Robert Smith Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Hey guys, I've been away for a little bit, sorry I haven't been on in a spell but, I've been spending time with a sweet friend of mine named Kathy. She's from Germany and was living here But, she's moving back to Germany a week from Sunday. She may move back to California when the time is right. I've been driving that P-15 of mine down to Redlands any chance I've gotten to visit with Her... She's into vintage style big time! We had a very nice time this week, took lots of photos but, this one is one of my top favorites! It was taken in my driveway and the lighting was perfect! I feel it's one of the most authentic looking photos of us. I'm so happy with it, I wanted to share it with you guys! I can't get over how old it looks when it was only taken yesterday! We're wearing 100% vintage clothing from the 40's and that helps out in a big way. Hope you guys had as nice a Thanksgiving as I did! =R= Quote
Normspeed Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Robert, that is one awesome shot! I hope you don't mind if I add that to my screen saver. It's perfect. Glad Jenny is doing OK again. We all talked about you while you were offline, galavanting around. :D Quote
thedahmer Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 If I were you, I would be packing my bags and learning to speak German!!!!! Quote
windsor8 Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 That picture looks like it came right out of an old photo album. Everything is just right. Quote
greg g Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Auch du liber!!!! Sei sind einen ungemein hübsches Mädchen. Du bist ein Glückspilz. Quote
greg g Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 This shot just pulled out of an old family album. Shows from left to right My future Uncle Ken, Future Aunt Bernice (father's sister) Future Mom, and Future Dad. (I was born in 48) This photo taken on a holiday trip to Canada. Looks like a Ford or Mercury back there so not Dad's. Quote
bob_amos Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 What a really cool shot... If you hadn't told us, and if we hadn't seen you in photos before, I know that I would have mistaken the photo for the real deal... Oh.. and you should be packing those bags and learning German.... Quote
47heaven Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Good job, Robert. You really outdid yourself, not only with the photo, but the girl too. I liked how women dressed back then. Very distictive style and very feminine. Hubba hubba! Quote
bob westphal Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Hey Rob, Great photo. Love black & white! Where did you get your threads? I'm into old style fashions and find it hard to locate the men's styles of the 30's and '40's. I drive a number of different vintage cars from the '30's though the early '80's and like to wear clothes that match the era. Bob Quote
Robert Smith Posted November 25, 2006 Author Report Posted November 25, 2006 Thanks guys! I'm so happy you guys like the photo! I sent a copy of it to my friend Kathy (The girl in the photo with me) And she LOVED IT! She wears this stuff daily, she does her hair perfectly 40's all the time! I love it!!! Trust me, if I had any way of going to Germany with her, I'd go! But, she's most likely going to come back after she figures out what she wants in life. I'll be waiting for her to return! I'm going to print that photo out and put it in a vintage Art Deco frame for her to take back to Germany... along with some other fun items. She's one in a million that gal, I love her. Well, you guys take care and thanks again for all the positive feed back on the photo! =RS= Quote
Guest dmackustom Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Thats amazing! Before I read the text I just assumed that was a picture as old as the car. Very cool! Quote
47heaven Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 That picture can virtually pass for the real thing, but I noticed the refection of a new car in the hub cap. Maybe no one will notice. Robert...you should have took the pic in the orange groves in Redlands. Quote
David Maxwell Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 ...and sure hope to see you at the national meet in Santa Maria this May. Come to think of it; sure would be nice to offer vintage style prints of people with their cars at the meet. A former student of mine is going to be the meet photographer. She's also a bit into vintage clothes, loves the `40's and would get a kick out of it. I'll talk to her about it. There are lots of vintage backdrops all over the meet site. Quote
David Maxwell Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 ...and tested a sepia look. Quote
Guest jtw3749c Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 I like the B&W better. Much more crisp. Nice gal! JT Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 We were at the Cannery Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas last night and they had The Guy Lombardo Orchestra on stage. There were a lot of couples there dresed like you are in the photo. Dennis:cool: Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Well, you know, Robin over in London and his lovely wife deal in vintage clothing. You might check with him. Quote
Charlie Olson Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Hi Robert, what a cool time travel photo. I can just hear "IN THE MOOD" playing on an AM radio, drinking a Pabst Blue Ribbon and splashing on some Mennen colgne. Thanks for the reminder of my youth. Quote
Robert Smith Posted December 1, 2006 Author Report Posted December 1, 2006 Uh oh, David tried to improve on PERFECTION... hahahaha, I don't mind at all David! Ya know, I did ad a little tweaking with the color balance with that photo... I added a little yellow and a little red... so, it's not true B&W. Yeah, I know my Mother's car is in the reflection of the hubcap... but, it was even more so on the driver's door! So, I had to photoshop the reflection on the door out! Glad you guys like it! It's a very special photo to me. =R= Quote
