greg g Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Not quite antique yet (The American Flyer in the basement qualifies) but we thought we'd dust of this set that was our Daughter's 1st birthday gift. No buzzes, no beeps, no flashing lights, no levers, no remote controls. Just your imagination. Happy Holidays folks. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Greg, Now just who did old dad buy that train for? Little girls usually don't play with that sort of thing, especially as young as your daughter was. They usually want dolls and doll houses. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 let the guy alone...mom will get the meathooks in the girl soon enough...my girl got a motorbike for her 4th B-day..go for it.. Quote
greg g Posted December 17, 2007 Author Report Posted December 17, 2007 Actually it was a gift from her aunt, who is a memeber of the NRRHS and the NYOW historical group. It is a signed set that was purchased at the TC Timber factory before they were gobled up by a conglomerate. We have a history of giving legacy type gifts on 1st birthdays. Something to be passed down to offspring regardless of gender. My daughter played with this set for hours on end along with her later aquired Micro Machines and Matchbox toys. Yes she had Cabbage Patch, and barbie but we raised a well rounded gearhead. Quote

Norm's Coupe Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 I guess I had the best of both worlds. Have a son and daughter. That way I could do the guy stuff with my son, and the wife did the girl stuff with the daughter. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 I still have the American Flyer train set that I got when I was a kid. Dennis Quote
