oldmopar Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 I am thinking of installing one of the ECI Dual Master cylinder in my 52 Plymouth next month and was wondering if anyone has installed one or has any feedback on them. Staying with the drum brakes for now. link to their website below http://ecihotrodbrakes.com/master_cylinder_systems.html Quote
littleman Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Used their dual mc conversion a couple years back, along with their frt disc. Easy install, been working great. Provides pom in todays traffic. Lifted the floor boards for the mc install, and requires some brake line work. Be glad to email you pics if interested. AL Quote
PatS.... Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Can you still use the original clutch pedal and column shift? Quote
littleman Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 YES, it fits at the original location, with a adaptor plate. If you ever took your sister's mickey mouse watch apart when you were a kid, it's an easy install. AL Quote
oldmopar Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 Al,looks easy and I will have have to send my letter to Santa so I can look for one under the tree Ed Quote
Normspeed Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 That's a good looking setup. Quote
martybose Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Is the installation all unbolt old/bolt-on new, or is there some torch work necessary? Also, is it an optical illusion, or is the rear shift rod almost hitting at both the pedal pivot location and the master cylinder flange? Marty Quote
50PlymouthSled Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 That's a nice looking setup. I was thinking of doing the same thing on my car. I've a 50 Plymouth. I was gonna do the ECI front brake kit. Anyone know if they come with a power booster? Quote
JerseyHarold Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Ed, Let me know how the install works out. It looks like the right way to go for brakes. Harold Quote
woodscavenger Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Does that work on the PH trucks? It looks like it might run into the steering column since the dual MC it longer. Quote
oldmopar Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 Does that work on the PH trucks? It looks like it might run into the steering column since the dual MC it longer. They do not have a kit listed for Dodge trucks. I was also thinking about a dual master for a 46 wd21 project I have lined up for this summer and I have some information from a member of the 39-47 Dodge trucks group who installed one in his truck the set up should be similar to ph trucks. I will PM it to you Ed Quote
rearview Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 What part number are they listing for your application? I bought one a few months back for my 52 Dodge and it didn't fit past my crossmember (fluid drive car) I've still got it... pretty sure ti's complete. Will make ya a deal.... Quote

littleman Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Plenty of clearence. Did have to drill hole for one attachment bolt. Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 That install looks very good. Are you using a purportioning valve with this setup? If so how difficult was it to dial in? What is the cost of this master cylinder? Quote
marfulle Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Installed a dual master in my 48 2 door sedan. It was a very easy install. I had to drill one hole and other then that it was bolt on application. I am still using drums all the way around and had to put a valve on the line going to the front brakes. The Master provided is set up for disc and not drums so hence the valve. I had to redo some brake lines, but that was easy. I really like the set and feel a little more at ease with the dual master. What is the cost of this master cylinder? DON, I used a hold off metering valve on the front didc and a 2psi risidual in line with a 10psi rear. I have not had any lock up problem so did not opt for a adj proportioning valve in the rear. The only difference I find between this and my other vehs on braking is the power assist. Cost at that time(11/05) MC and bracket 250. Hold off valve 85. The system works quite well, as some ladies could attest to after they ran a red light, and their attention was brought the the beauty of the frontal view of a P15 with 6v dual trumpet horns on a 12v system. Norm's Coupe Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Here's all the info on eci master cylinders. http://www.ecihotrodbrakes.com/master_cylinder_systems.html Quote
Normspeed Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 I notice it mounts "backwards" from a normal firewall mount. When you run the brake lines, do you correct for that by attaching the rear brakes to the front fitting? Littleman, I was also wondering if you or any of the rest of the gang have tried this setup with front disks and no booster, or are you still running the stock drum setup? Quote
55 Fargo Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Now thats slick, wonder if Charlie could make up these adaptor plates. What type of MC is it, could this be bought from your local parts store and modified to fit this setup..................Fred Quote

Even remember all the hand signals, pre middle digit. AL Quote
Normspeed Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 If I were to do it, that's how I would want to set it up. Front disks, dual MC, no booster. Another thing for my wish list. Quote

If you guys go to the site I posted and check, they are using either or both for the Mopar set up. Either a Chevy or Ford MC. They show them on the site. Quote
