Thanks to everyone that gave advice on how to remove passenger door lock assembly. Now that it's out, I can't seem to remove the door latch assembly. Have a manual. followed all the steps, seemed easy. However, it gets hung up on what appears to be the window track. It is spotwelded so I can't remove it. As a result, the latch assembly doesn't have enough clearance to remove. Any tricks?

You HAVE to mess it it....there is a magic twist/orientaion that allows you to pop it out.   PITA to do it....shouldn't have to take anything else apart, just find that right orientation.

There are several remove & install procedures on the B-series that seem straightforward on paper, but require finesse in practice...this is one of them.  I fought briefly with my 1st latch removal, took a break, tried again, and was able to finagle the bstrd out eventually...the 2nd one was a li'l easier, and the 3rd, and so on.  The only trick I know is that as soon as I think I want to utter creative german, then it's break time...the only F-word I want to say while working on these trucks is FUN, not FRUSTRATION

Allow the rod that goes to the inside handle pivot to rotate down so that it is parallel to the window track. This will allow the latch assembly to rotate out around the window track. At least that's how I remember finally getting mine out.
