sjaakslinger Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 How do you disconnect the rod in the picture? I want to do some adjustments. I tried pulling and prying with a flat screwdriver, no luck. I didn't want to force it though. More force? Thx. Quote
Mark D Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 The ball socket does not disconnect. You remove the nut on the ball. 1 Quote
TodFitch Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 Per @Mark D you unscrew them. It might be useful to see how modern replacements look, there are some on the O'Reilly Auto Parts website as well as McMaster-Carr and other sites. Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 As noted, what is shown as the ball joint does not come apart. The end of that ball piece is bolted to either the bell crank or shaft. The threads on each end of the rod are both right hand (it does not work like a tie rod), so to adjust the length of the rod, you would have to detach the ball joint from either the shaft or bell crank. Loosen the lock nut at the end of the ball joint where the rod threads into it and make your adjustments. 1 1 Quote
