Solly Posted December 28, 2024 Report Posted December 28, 2024 I may have posted this in wrong section, sorry if I did. Howdy, Today I was reacquainted with a old friend CARNAUBA WAX !! over the past few years I have fallen victim to the convenience of spray waxes and I admit the results have been good, their fast and easy and for what they are they are effective and I know that due to advances in technology and synthetics probably longer lasting when exposed to the elements , however that being said there is something to be said for good old fashioned carnauba wax !! I asked Santa for some carnauba wax for Christmas and the jolly old elf came through he did provide me with liquid wax as opposed to paste wax but that's ok he brought me Mothers Liquid Gold Brazilian Carnauba wax Today I got up (beautiful day in PHX) and gave the old girl a application, my oh my how satisfying kinda like going to the barber and getting a hot lather shave !! the memories flooded my brain of the countless vehicles I used to wax the old school way before the advent of quick waxes !! This is not a endorsement but the Mothers went on smoothly and came off just as well !! now the finish on the 34 is pretty damn good so the wax did not have to perform any miracles . the results were great and the smell of good old fashioned wax as opposed to the foo foo smell of the quick waxes was pleasing. So the carnauba my not be as long lasting as the new synthetics but were talking about a garage kept veh so I think I'm good for 6 months. It was a bit of a work out but I needed to get these old bones out of the Lazy Boy after holiday meals and Christmas cookies. 4 Quote
desoto1939 Posted December 28, 2024 Report Posted December 28, 2024 when you do the next waxing of the car. Get some clay bar and then clean off all of the road containments. Use a micro fiber towel. I use a detailers spray as th eliquid to make the claybar remove the material. Then when applying the was do not go in circuar motions apply the was ina linear fashion like would do when sanding a board. go with the the grain or how you would look at the hood from sitting in the car. So front to back of the hood. Also take off the wax in the same manner. Do this same thing with all body parts of the car. Also remove the tag on the micro fiber cloth. Never use a dish detergent to clean the car, it removes the grease and or wax. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com 1 Quote
Tom Skinner Posted December 28, 2024 Report Posted December 28, 2024 Rich, Great advice, and keep an old soft paint brush to brush away any residual wax build up around ornaments and Lettering. Tom Quote
Ivan_B Posted December 28, 2024 Report Posted December 28, 2024 Carnauba is just one of the ingredients, originally coming from some fancy tree leafs I always use liquid wax (with carnauba) so that I do not need to buff anything, essentially wearing down the paint I am trying to preserve. Quote

Carnuba wax will bring back tired paint because it buffs the layers of worn paint off. But otherwise some more modern paint protections are better Quote
JBNeal Posted December 30, 2024 Report Posted December 30, 2024 Mothers Cleaner Wax is what I switched to several years ago...it's a paste that goes on easy, dries to a haze, and is practically effortless to buff off, makes little blemishes in clear coat disappear, larger blemishes fade away after several applications, and makes paint GLOW...smells nice too 🌞 Quote
Ivan_B Posted December 30, 2024 Report Posted December 30, 2024 Speaking about smell: carnauba literally attracts bees (or wasps, I can't tell the difference) for some reason. So be careful 😉 Quote
