I found a large hose on the passenger side kick panel which I assume goes to the vacuum motor for the windshield wiper but I have no idea where it is pulling vacuum from. I’m having trouble getting the panel off at the motor (one screw stripped) but I also believe I need to get the knob off to remove the panel. Does it screw on?  Is there a set screw? Do you pull the knob to turn on the wipers?  Right now it doesn’t move in or out.

No idea on the wiper motor itself, I haven't gotten that far yet. On my '41 Plymouth truck on the back side of the carburetor is a flared fitting with a broken off metal tube about 3/16 coming out of it. I kind of assumed that's vacuum for my wipers when I get to that.

On my '33 Plymouth the on/off knob screws on to a shaft coming off the wiper motor. From the single wiper motors I’ve seen over the years at swap meets I think that is pretty standard.

The large hoses inside the kick panels on my car are the drains for the tray/rim around the cowl vent. It would not surprise me if that was the same on most cars and trucks through the forties.

Look at your intake manifold for the vacuum wiper hose connection. On my car it is a pipe threaded fitting under the carburetor on the engine side of the intake manifold. Probably with some small diameter metal tubing attached there and transitioning to rubber hose after a bit.

The carb connection is for the vacuum advance. There is a treaded pipe connection under the carb that didn’t have a plug in it. I thought that would be a good source of constant vacuum but it didn’t have a fitting for a vacuum line.  That is where I will hook up the wiper if I can ever get to it. The large hose as a drain makes perfect sense since it seemed go out under the cab. The hose was very deteriorated so I wasn’t sure where it went.

Should be in the manual as to where it's connected. I'd answer more direct, but I'm at work right now. The knob pulls to enable the wiper, one for each side if you have both. Regardless, you need manifold vacuum to run them.
