Dale Uhrich Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 where have others bought anti rattle strips for the doors? My cab has no vent windows and the strips are gone. when I put in new glass this should be repaired. Quote
Dennis_MN Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 My drivers door rattles and the cause is a broken weld which holds the window channel to the side of the door. I haven't fixed it yet but my plan is to use some JB weld to hold it temporarly and then I'm going to get a small drill bit for my dremal tool and drill an hole and add a small bolt from the door frame to the window channel. Dale Uhrich Posted November 28, 2007 Author Report Posted November 28, 2007 the strips i'm talking about are the fizzy felt strips along the window on each side by the window ledge Quote
Thunder II Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 Its notao original DODGE part but, Kenworth has replacement window tracks that may work. I havent tried them yet, as i am not at that point in my resto. I dont remember the part number. But If you get a guy, thats half way sharp, he'll know what you're looking for. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 I believe you can get most of the window track strips and sweeps from Roberts and/or Steele. The only thing I haven't been able to find are the short rubber bumpers that go on the inside edge of the door, facing the glass. Merle Quote
H Suhling Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Mele You can get the bumpers you are looking for at Roberts also. That is where I got mine. Harvey Quote
Jim Shepard Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 I got mine at the glass shop that cut my new glass. I think any good auto glass shop will have these. Quote
Guest Dave Claussen Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 J.C. WHITNEY has window channel. Also, I've seen it in Labaron Bonney or Hampton Coach. You might even be able to look at Jegs or Summit. Dave Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 I got mine at the glass shop that cut my new glass. I think any good auto glass shop will have these. Me Too Quote
Bob_Koch Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Anyone have part numbers for the window channel from whitney or someplace else? Quote
Phil Martin Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 The auto glass shop that I got my glass from had window channel that was way better, cheaper and no shipping charges than I got before from Roberts. Quote
Thunder II Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Kenwort part #75001657. Its a six foot piece. Like I said, not original, but its available. And you dont have to pay shipping, if you're near a Kenworth dealer. Hope this helps. Quote
MBF Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 I got mine from Roberts-I think you buy it by the foot. They also have the rubber bumpers that go inside the door glass. Worked out well-I'm pretty sure they're both in the catalog. Mike Quote
Guest Dave Claussen Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 Anyone have part numbers for the window channel from whitney or someplace else? Bob, here's the link to the channel I got. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBrowse/c-10101/s-10101/p-100000170746/mediaCode-ZX/appId-100000170746/Pr-p_CATENTRY_ID:100000170746 Looks like a real good match although I must preface this with the fact that I haven't actually installed it in the window yet. You could be the judge of that. They will send you a sample piece for comparison to your original channel. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 thanks Dave for the link. I just ordered from whitney this morning, same style but my measurements put the width closer to 5/8" instead of 9/16" I'll give it a try when they come in and let everyone know if it's too wide. If I goofed everyone will get a chance to learn from my experience. Quote
Guest Dave Claussen Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Bob, what year is your truck? Could the different years have slightly different sizes of window channel? Quote
Bob_Koch Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 I got my measurements from a '52. Also have a '53 door, but it looks like the channels have already been replaced with something aftermarket so I didn't trust them. Quote
Guest Dave Claussen Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Mine's a 52 as well. I measured my old channels with a dial caliper and that's the numbers I used when I searched for replacements. No way could I have made the old ones work, all the fuzzy stuff was gone from the inside of the channel. The windows must have been drafty and leaked something terrible. Quote
billwillard Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 Any good glass shop will have these moldings and just glue them in place. Just a spot of glue about 10" apart and at each end. Glue and roll window up and tape ends in chanel over night. Quote
Guest Dave Claussen Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 Sounds easy enough, thanks for the tip. Dave Quote
