I am need of both front door vent wing glass frames for a1937 Plymouth P4. Part numbers 749009 and 74010.

Apart from using the Classifed section on this web site, could anyone advise me of where else to advertise for such parts.

I am in the UK so not likely to find them here!

Are you talking about the metal that goes around the wing window? I do not have any but I believe the restorer of this car in Landidno might know where to get them as mine were missing when the car came over.

yes. it's the metal frames that I am after. The two that came with the car are distorted and damaged and do not cloae the gaps properly. Do you have an address in Llanduno?

I have sent John an e-mail asking if he knows of where to get these. He is a very busy man and it may take some time before he gets back to me. As soon as he does I will let you know.

Here is my car when it came to the UK and what it looks like now.

HI Steve

We did meet a couple of years ago at the Rally of the Giants. I would really appreciate it if you coud send me a close up photo of you front window vents so i can compare with mine.

The top bracket and bottom pivot seem to be in the correct positions but the corner curve is not closing against the rubber seal, both of which are new.

Always something!

As it looks like its LHD I assume its a US/Canadian built car..........but I ask this as I found out the hard way when I bought 1/4 vent rubbers for my Oz T.J. Richards built 1940 Dodge.......I'd had the car for 30 yrs when I decided to buy some 1/4 vent rubbers from the US.......wasn't till I got them that I found the pivot holes were in a different spot and then realised that Oz cars have the pivots in the corner but North American cars have the pivots directly above/below each other...........I couldn't bring myself to chop up these beautiful pieces so it was a real coincidence that when I bought a US built 1941 Pymouth Coupe that it needed 1/4 vent rubbers..........guess what job I did almost straight away........lol..........BTW I'm not sure but it would be worth checking to see if these pieces are the same on all 1937 Plymouth body designs as well as whether 1938 pieces are also the same..........andyd

Wimble........just checked my 1936-42 Plymouth Master Parts List book & it shows that the Front Door Vent Wing Glass Frame Assembly uses the same part number as the 1938 P5 & P6 but the part numbers quoted are different to what you have......Right is 767681 and Left is 767682 for both 1937 and 1938 2 & 4 door sedans but not coupes or convertibles...........and neither of the part numbers you have are shown in this Master Parts Book...........hope this doesn't confuse the issue further........lol.........Andy Douglas

It might be the seal. My windows do not close either. I will take some photos and show you what I have

Thanks for the info.

The car pictured above is not mine. MIne is right hand drive.

I have parts lists for both the 1937 Plymouth models and the UK equivalent Chrysler Wimbledon and Kew where the part numbers are the same as in my first post.

I bought new rubbers which match the originals and fit perfectly. the problem is the shape of the vent frames which leave a gap at the front corner!

Wimble.......o/k so the pics are not of your car.....where was your car BUILT.......ie, was it a Detroit build or a Canadian build but assembled in Kew, London? with a USA body shell & doors ........or were the doors and/or body shell for example built/stamped in England?......

..........again not trying to confuse things but My Oz 1940 Dodge uses an Oz built body shell, very similar to but different from the North American bodies whereas the 1941 Plymouth I had used a Detroit manufactured body shell that was made RHD but exported to and assembled in South Africa then eventually making its way to Oz in the 1990's............both cars had very similar body parts etc but used some very different parts as well.........

............you refer to your car as a Chrysler Wimbledon so apart from the RHD steering & dash parts is there any other parts that may be different to the North American 1937 Plymouth bits?...............

From what I understand, cars were built in the US and shipped to UK for assembly.

Differences from Plymout P4 are:

RH drive

Revised dash

Overdrive

12volt system as standard

I think carburetors were also different as both the engines I have are fitted with Zenith carbs

Wing mounted side lights (Lucas UK)

Semaphore Trafficators mounted on the B Post (Lucas UK)

How do the trafficators mount on the B pillar when the front & rear doors close together?...I mean is there enough space between the doors for the trafficators to fit?...andyd

Vertical slot in B pillar to take recessed semaphore arm - these are the less common longer arm Lucas trafficators found on some prewar cars ( i am still looking for some!)
