moparfun Posted May 27, 2023 Report Posted May 27, 2023 Hi Guys, so I got these spark plugs and would like to see if they fit my 50. They are Wizard L1084-33 I have searched and did't get much more than they were sold by Western Auto. I thought someone here might have some early catalog or something to identify their application. Thanks Quote
JerseyHarold Posted May 28, 2023 Report Posted May 28, 2023 Western Auto had their own unique parts numbering system. I found that out the hard way when I acquired a batch of their brake cylinder rebuild kits many years ago. I had some success punching-in the part numbers to Google and eBay. I eventually got them all identified, but it took a while. Quote
Semmerling Posted May 28, 2023 Report Posted May 28, 2023 Ok so the very best resource was a Gentleman named Cornelius Bergbower. He published the 3 volume set called "Spark Plug Collector's Guide" He died a number of years ago, but his wife is as nice and as competent a resource as he was. I will email her and ask her.... 1. What the Wizard Twin Fire #22 (L1084-33) was for originally and if there is a cross as well you can use to double check. I am on it., hang on..... Quote
moparfun Posted May 28, 2023 Author Report Posted May 28, 2023 Yes, I was hoping to ad to the neck snapping power of our cars. Twin Fire Quote
Semmerling Posted May 28, 2023 Report Posted May 28, 2023 The Twin Fires were sold as producing higher mileage. Quote
Semmerling Posted May 28, 2023 Report Posted May 28, 2023 Late 1960 small engine plug. No known cross, no specific application. Thats all I could get. Quote
moparfun Posted May 29, 2023 Author Report Posted May 29, 2023 Thank you, Semmerling, I think I'll put them in a run it a for a little bit and see how the motor performs, then pull the plugs and check them and maybe check the cylinders with a bore scope. I'll let you guys know how they work out. Thanks again Quote
desoto1939 Posted May 29, 2023 Report Posted May 29, 2023 Blue Crown back inthe 1930-52 had the Exciter plug that had two contacts at the firing end. This chart was taken from my Blue Crown sparkplug catalog from 1930-50 Rich Hartung Desoto1939 Quote
