BobT-47P15 Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Probably nothing really new, but updating what's going on. Link to an article in the Tulsa paper. http://www.tulsaworld.com/webextra/content/2007/buriedcarunearthed/articles.aspx?articleID=071102_238_A1_hUnea05642 Quote
47heaven Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Wow...that inside shot looks like something similar to looking inside the Titanic under water. Quote
PatS.... Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 "We want to preserve the car, not restore it," Foster said. "We're not going to replace any more pieces than we have to get it 'up on its haunches.' " I was glad to read that. Restoration just made no sense. Unrestored and stabilized, if I got the opportunity to see it, I would. If it was restored I wouldn't bother. Quote
oldmopar Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 I saved the restoration site if this company can clean of that rust I will have to buy a gallon and try there product but I do wonder if it is just phosphoric acid with a different label. Quote
blueskies Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 It will be very interesting to see what the rust remover "dip" will do to the car. The product is only supposed to disolve rust, but what will it do to the plastic stuff like the steering wheel and the aluminum stuff that has already gone to hell? Here's a pic I took at the unveiling- Pete Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 With all due respect this is a rusted out piece of junk that should have be recovered with earth on the spot. It is a sign of good intentions spoiled by a breached tomb..the owner should take any deal equal or above scrap metal and let it go at that...it is a waste of time and newspaper ink to keep following this car... Norm's Coupe Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 I agree with Tim. If the rust remover does remove the rust from this car, the car will probably fall apart. The rust and corrosion is probably all that's holding this car together. Quote
48Dodger Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 I look at it as a fun science project. I have a few cars of my own, that if I left alone long enough someone might bury them! Glad to see the old mopar out of the ground in the hands of someone who's interested in her. Which reminds me...The Pettys buried a bunch of their race cars in the back 40 during "the day"....now there's some mopars I'd like to see dug up.lol. 48D Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 13, 2007 Author Report Posted November 13, 2007 They say that the Army buried vehicles and/or equipment at Camp Crowder near Neosho, MO (about 20 miles from here) during or after WWII. Don't know if they were excess stuff, defective or outdated items, or what. The camp is now the site of a college....plus some industries. Quote
