andyd Posted December 11, 2022 Report Posted December 11, 2022 Dunno if this is any help but the lower A arm is essentially the same 1940 to 1954 as far as dimensions go, ie, the inner & outer pins & bushes from 1940 to I think 1954 are the same parts but there are differences in the lower A arm where the spring pocket fits or its height and also I think from 1942 there is a small bracket on the front edge of the A Arm for the sway bar mount..........I've not swapped the lower arm as my car uses the original 1940 piece but I swapped the original 1940 Upper for the 1941-54 style Upper..........regards from Oz...........andyd Quote
Bernie1951 Posted January 12, 2023 Author Report Posted January 12, 2023 Ok thanks for the info. according to my old manual exploded view it shows a "spring spacer" on top of the silencer on top of the coil spring. Since the one I'm working on doesn't have one, after I tore it down, does it really nneed to be there? Can,t seem to locate a replacement. Quote
andyd Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 I have not ever seen a spring spacer on any of the 1940/41 Oz dodges & plymouths that I have pulled apart.........I've certainly seen the remains of the spring silencer and have made up replacement silencers from rubber inner tube.........as for the spacer I'd think that it would have been an optional part installed to add some extra height and clearance when driving on dirt roads..........but thats only a guess on my part..........andyd Quote
Sniper Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 My service manual makes mention of a spring spacer to correct ride height. So you may or may not have one. You don't necessarily need one. Quote
