Amongst a box of performance parts I recently acquired is this Mallory distributor.  Model ZC type 200D. Shaft was cut off at end of housing, my machinist can fix. Cap is broke inside.  What is this coil, no tag or numbers.  How can I test coil?  Where can I find parts?  If made operational will this work in my 218 with Edmunds head and 2 x 2 intake manifold?  Manifold currently has 2 94's installed.20220412_192349.jpg.b2646536ba81b00ce69f9c27600aa9db.jpg20220412_193242.jpg.6d2aef827fd62967b44e713a8c34580c.jpg

my question why are you going to try to fix thes used parts especially since it needs major repair and then are you going to be able to find parts later when you need them?

I would spend the money on a petronix system because you know they work and the parts are available for your car.

Just my 25 cents of input.

Or just do the slant six conversion with a GM HEI controller.  Enjoy the benefits of hotter spark for better starts and have easy access to repair parts at your local store (+thousands of online sources)if ever needed.

OTOH, you wouldn't have that cool old part working.

I just did the dyna-flyte dual point conversion on my truck.  Not quite Pertronix, but an upgrade and can be reversed unlike the Pertronix.  It works with the 6 volt as well.

Shaft will cost me $0.00 to make/repair.

Too many stories of Petronix failures, including friends and personal experience.

Goes with my other cool old stuff.  And I like the abuse of points and multi carbs.

Make sure the shaft is thin like the mopar shaft.

Another alternative is the Langdons HEI conversion, just got mine in the mail yet to be installed.

Regarding Pertronix, most failures are probably installer error. Pertronix can run on 6v and can be reversed to points in minutes.

Sorry no info on that coil. Check google for testing it, it's just a coil.
