thebelvedereman Posted April 4, 2022 Report Posted April 4, 2022 Has anyone converted there Hardline vacuum advance to a rubber line advance, I've got an Autolite distributor in my 1948 Dodge, with the metal line Advance that bolts into the carburetor, I'm switching to a 32-36 carb from Langdon, and I'm pretty sure my vacuum advance is shot anyway, I was just wondering if there was a direct replacement soft hose vacuum advance for my distributor Quote
thebelvedereman Posted April 4, 2022 Author Report Posted April 4, 2022 I'm thinking down the road to convert to 12 volt with an HEI distributor, but just don't have the money to Shell out right now Quote
thebelvedereman Posted April 4, 2022 Author Report Posted April 4, 2022 And yes I know that I could just cut the tube off and stick the hose right on it, but I really didn't want to do that Quote
Sniper Posted April 4, 2022 Report Posted April 4, 2022 Just replace the fittings at the carb and distributor with ones that have nipples, then run a vacuum hose. 1 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 4, 2022 Report Posted April 4, 2022 I am not aware of a modern sealed unit that will bolt on......the main nut has to remain in play as it adjusts total advance movement....cutting the line and slipping on a rubber hose is simple and effective and keep in mind the seat of the advance unit and the carb is set for ferrule use....if you search for a ferrule, a good seal is needed at the threads and you threads should be the same so not to damage the carb and distributor bases . Cut the tube with reasonable length you can slip the hose on up to the base nut and hide as much of the original as any replacement nipple will allow 1 Quote
