fireguyfire Posted February 7, 2022 Report Posted February 7, 2022 I’ve got to pull the windshield frame out of my 1940 1/2 ton and do some metal repair in the lower passenger side corner, as well as replace the glass. The paint is gone from my frame, but it is solid. My truck is deep blue, including the fenders and my question is, what colour would my windshield frame likely have been from new; the same deep blue as the body, or black? I seem to remember reading somewhere that they painted all of the windshield frames black before installing on any colour of truck, but I might be mistaken. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 8, 2022 Report Posted February 8, 2022 I looked in my books. Most of the vintage pics are black and white but the few that are of a lighter color body show a dark windshield. So I'm saying they were black. Quote
fireguyfire Posted February 8, 2022 Author Report Posted February 8, 2022 Thanks gents; I’ll go a bit flatter with a semi gloss being that my truck is a worn survivor. Quote
chstrumpetdude Posted February 8, 2022 Report Posted February 8, 2022 My 1940 still had black paint. I had mine blasted and powder coated matte black. However, if I ever have to install windshield glass and the weatherstripping again in a windshield I am contracting it out. It works, but it is not the prettiest and was the most nerve racking/tedious thing I have done to the truck. Quote
