Crazyred Posted January 17, 2022 Report Posted January 17, 2022 (edited) On my '33 Plymouth I need to get the clutch relined (proper term???) and the pressure plate assembly resurfaced. The clutch is a borg and beck 9" as well as the pressure plate assembly. Can anyone recommend a company that offers this service? I'm in the Houston area but will ship if needed. TodFitch Posted January 17, 2022 Report Posted January 17, 2022 In the old days any town of a reasonable size had a brake and friction company that could reline brake shoes, reface clutch disks and rebuild pressure plates. Have you checked to see if there is such a shop still existing in the Houston area? I’d be a little surprised if there wasn’t. Quote

desoto1939 Posted January 17, 2022 Report Posted January 17, 2022 our old member Don always recommended this rebuilder and from what I have read they do a great job. Might also consider looking on ebay to see if a rebuild PP and clutch disc are available. The cost of shipping to the guy in Tennasee might be just about the same. Here isa copy of the presure plate and clutch disc info and number frommy Borg warner catalog. Also on ebay there are units to fit your ar based on these numbers. Crazyred Posted January 17, 2022 Author Report Posted January 17, 2022 @TodFitch LOL, I like the "in the old days" comment. ? I do believe there are places in Houston that offer this service. Since this is my first time having this done, I wasn't sure if any place could perform this on this age clutch. I prefer to recondition what I have instead of buying, if the rebuilder knows what they are doing. @Sam Buchanan thanks for the vendor recommendation and for whatever reason I always forget to check on ebay now days for parts. @desoto1939 thanks for that spec and part information that will be useful for this! I will start calling around to see if I can find a local shop first, if not then I'll call Tennessee Clutch. Quote
Crazyred Posted January 21, 2022 Author Report Posted January 21, 2022 Found a shop called the heitman company that does clutches, brakes and resurfaces pressure plates and fly wheels. Had the clutch and pressure plate redone at half the cost of online pricing and they turned it around in 1 day. So far the workmanship looks like a quality job. I'll know for sure in a few weeks once it's all back together i guess. 4 Quote
