windsor8 Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 Hello, This is my first post on this forum. I've been into old car for many years. I have built a couple of Model A hot rods, a coupe and a roadster. Have owned a 41 Chrysler Windsor since 1973. Just got a 1948 Dodge Club Coupe back in Sept. Going to run a 318 with automatic trans. in it. Looking forward to getting a lot of good information and sharing what I know. I love old Mopars! Quote

Normspeed Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 I want to say welcome to all the new folks. You've found one of the best places on the web. Seems like once the forum went to the new format, we gained quite a few more old car nuts. To you guys who are modifying yours, hang on to the old drivetrains, suspensions and stuff, folks on this forum sometimes swap parts. I hope all the new folks will at least add their state or city to the profiles, and a pic of their car, or their dream car. browsing the members list is like walking the best Mopar car show ever. Except that pic of MikeMaker. That one scares me. Quote
greg g Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 Welcome to the forum. Good luck with your project. I posted a link the yeaterday regarding fabing motor mounts. You might want to take a look. With the 318 swap you will have an interfearence problem with the exhaust manifold and the steering box. The most common fiz seems to be to offset the engine an inch and a half or so to the pass side. The link uses plates and tubing to make motor mounts which would make this realively easy. There are also some up and over manifolds from Early 70's A bodies with 318's that can work also. If your gonna swap the tranny, having the chebby rear is good cause the original trans has the e brake on it, it will go away if you swap to a T flite. Of course the T flite will have a Park prawl, but ya probably still want the e brakes. Again welcome. Quote

But... be sure to check back often as it moves pretty fast here. There is no forum that I know of that has as much activity as this place. Greatest group of gear heads on the net!!! Quote
