Young Ed Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Tim I found a screw together thing at the hardware store that nicely replaces those rivets. I have 2 of them on my truck and 1 on the coupe. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Right Tim Although my truck is backwards of the car. On the pickup it rivets to the door and goes inside the cowling. I don't have a pic of the little items handy. A couple months ago someone posted an ebay auction with a NOS mopar rivet replacement piece. I showed it to my buddy at the hardware store and he says" I have a whole box of those!" So I brought one door check arm in and sized it out. I'll try to get a picture or the proper term for it. Young Ed Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Ok Tim that wasn't removed on my car. On mine the whole thing was unriveted from the the car like your first picture. I have a good solution for the other end that you aren't working on now If my truck had those they would probably be broken but trucks aren't that sophisticated. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Tim my hardware will work. I didn't modify the holes on my stuff at all. Its basically 2 screws one male one female. They are just long enough that they tighten up on each other and not the door hardware. I did use some loctite on mine just for safe keeping. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 I could certainly buy a few and send em your way too. I'd have to figure out the size again. These were just out of the bulk bins at the store. Its a modern product. I think these guys carry hillman fastners. Quote
james curl Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Tim have you thought about using revnuts? They are used with a blind rivet gun either manual or pneumatic to set like a blind rivet that is hollow with internal threads. They also come closed to be used in fuel tanks for short screws to secure external items to the tank. Quote
Brad Lustig Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 One of my front doors doesn't stay open. I guess that could be the culprit. Never knew there was a possible fix. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 For Tim. Believe its called a screw post. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 It sure is Tim. The height is perfect so when its tight its not loose but its not compressing the metal either. Granted I haven't tried this in a 54 but I have one in my 48 and 2 in the pickup and they are working great in there. Anyone else in need of a few of these? The hardware store said I could order a box and get the price per down. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 I think they said 30. Wouldn't take too many more cars to use up that many. I've already forgotten the dimensions of the one I bought. They also have about 20 different sizes so I would think one would work for you. Quote

Young Ed Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 I don't have a fulton to compare with. Quote
