p24-1953 Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 i did a compression test, but i forgot to keep the throtle pinned open will this effect my readings? (i did have the choke closed down). my readings were 110, 120, 120, 120, 110, 120. Are those strong readings? the repair book does not list what is good or not. i will be back with vacuum reading in a few mins. Quote
Mr. Belvedere Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 According to the book, normal compression is 105lbs at cranking speed and room tempof 70 degrees. Based on that i'd say your motor is fit as a fiddle! Throttle should be open but it will have a neligible impact at cranking speed. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 them measurements are very nice..the two low are within 10 percnet..don't worry about the WOT...that sucker ought to purr...only thing I would suggest is a bout a 12 ounce bottle of water through it.... Quote
p24-1953 Posted October 5, 2007 Author Report Posted October 5, 2007 to clean out the carbon build up? is this safe. i just finnished the vacuum test it pulls 17-18 steady revv it and it drops for a seccond or two then goes back to 17-18. Quote
greg g Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Good vitals. The water will turn to steam and the steam will soften any hard carbon deposits. If you're afraid of pouring, get a spray bottle, run it up to 1200 to 1500 rpm and spray it into the carb. Quote
