Bern Pearson Posted July 29, 2020 Report Posted July 29, 2020 I have a 1948 Plymouth. Someone did a decent restoration. Much of the chrome appears new. The tailights, however, have no gaskets and no reflectors. The big center light has no gasket. Can I buy gaskets and the little reflectors? If not, is there a way to make a decent looking gasket? Kind regards Bern Quote
greg g Posted July 29, 2020 Report Posted July 29, 2020 None of the lights came with internal reflectors. The bulb on the tail markers stick through a hole in the body. Some folks have reported gaini g some more light by painting the body under the lens white or silver. I made a reflector for the brake from polished aluminum flashing, and stuck it in behind the bulb. The other thing to do is provide a ground strap from some where on the firewall to the frame engine or bell housing. This addition will make everything grounded through the body work better. Quote
Bern Pearson Posted July 29, 2020 Author Report Posted July 29, 2020 The reflector I am looking for is about the size of a quarter and sits in a setting below the tail light lens. It is missing. Quote
plymjim Posted July 30, 2020 Report Posted July 30, 2020 The little license plate reflectors are about the same size. available at J&P cycle,& probably most auto parts stores. A little cutting &fitting perhaps. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 30, 2020 Report Posted July 30, 2020 Roberts or bernbaum should have those gaskets. FYI they go around the glass not the full housing so if you haven't taken the lights apart you might have them and not know it. Quote
