Norm's Coupe Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 Ed, I don't know if that's super bowl weekend or not. Guess that's a good point though. Especially since the Packers are off to such a good start this year. [/sizeGO PACKERS] Anyone know that date? Quote
Young Ed Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 Norm looks like if the rest of the guys are into football as much as you and I it will be a good weekend to have it! Probably less traffic on the roads then too. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 17, 2007 Author Report Posted October 17, 2007 Ed, that's a good point too. Even now it's dead on the roads during a Packer game. I usually plan my trips to the stores then because no one is there during a game. They're all at home in front of the Boob Tube watching the game. My next door neighbor is into the Packers so much that he made his rec room in the basement a Packers room. Floor is painted like a football field with the yard lines painted in. Walls are green and gold and so is the bar. Has all kinds of Packer stuff sitting around and hanging on the walls. At the end of his driveway he has a street sign that says "Packers Drive". The year in the 90's when the Packers won the Super Bowl the ABC TV local station news crew came out to his house and had it on the news. It's usually pretty quiet in my neighborhood but..........on a day when the Packers are playing you can hear my neighbor yelling and screaming as they play inside my house all the way from his house. You can still hear him when it gets colder with the doors and windows shut, it's just not as loud then. Wife and I get a kick out him on game day. Quote
48Dodger Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 Hey guys, Superbowl weekend is FEB 3rd, 2008 in Arizona. Go 49ers! 48D Quote
Merle Coggins Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 If Feb 3rd is the Super Bowl, than Jan 26th is during the off week between the last playoff game and the Big Game. That'll work for me. I probably won't be following the playoffs too closely unless the Packers are still in it, but I do like to watch the Super Bowl. Any thoughts on location, Norm? You mention somewhere between here and Mad-town. Are you thinking about something around Johnson Creek, Watertown, or Lake Mills areas? Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 18, 2007 Author Report Posted October 18, 2007 Merle, I just threw out that stretch of I-94 for discussion. Was meant to make it a little more even for travel time for people like Ken Bartz and Bill if they plan on attending again. Once we know who's going to come, we can pick someplace along there. Have to also keep people like Bob in mind from down around Kenosha. Let's face it, no matter where we make it someone is probably be close and the others have to drive. The area around Hwy 26 & I-94 (Johnson Creek) would be a good spot. They've really built that area up. That restaurant just north of the gas station (northwest corner of I-94 & 26) on 26 & I-94 (forgot the name) is a good place to eat. Not the greatest to look at inside, but they do have good food and service. There's also newer places but I never paid attention to the names of the new ones. Plus, there is the Discount Mall just north of there. If the wives join us, they can shop till they drop. My wife likes to go there with her lady friends. Of course, there's always the Oconomowoc area too at about hwy 83. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 I think you are referring to the Pine Cone. I think there's another family type restaurant across 26 from there, but I'm not familiar with that. Hwy 83 and I-94 has several choices as well. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 18, 2007 Author Report Posted October 18, 2007 Merle, that's the one, the Pine Cone on 26 in Johnson Creek. Don't know why I have trouble remembering the name. I've been stopping in there since back in the 70's and I always had that problem with that name. Quote

Hope you can find somebody to take some of the pressure off. By the way, I know all about cnc's (Canadian Club n Coke that is). Does that help? Just kidding, I know you weren't talking about that kind of cnc. Quote
