RobertKB
Thanks for posting. Very interesting and entertaining. I always like to think that at one time those vehicles were all brand new and someone's pride and joy. Almost all still contain a few parts that could live on in other vehicles. I don't have a picture of it but I once came across a 1946-48 Ford that was on its side in a hollow in a wooded area. I honestly could not find one part that I thought could be used. Even door handles were so badly pitted they were nearly falling apart. I live in a fairly dry area but time had still really done its work to that car. Ulu
I found an old woodie still standing proud in an overgrown abandoned junkyard. It was totally corroded but in the black and desiccated wood, at the tailgate header, was a beautiful stainless steel bolt polished by the desert wind. The only shiny part you could see on the entire car. I was amazed and I walked up and pointed at the bolt and I said, “look at this!” to my friend and I touched it. Just a little touch with one finger to feel the astonishing smoothness. As I touched that, but so gently, the car felt me and groaned a little bit, and the wood all collapsed into the dirt. ?
