Which Carb Kit??

I could sure use some assistance. I'm trying to identify a Carter one barrel carb. It's from a 1949 Plymouth (P-18) with a 52 Dodge 230 engine. I have found info for D6H1 and D6H2 carbs. Mine is a D6H3 (see picture). I'm after a rebuild kit but have not found one. Are the D6H2 carbs the same? I really hate to tear this one down without having a kit in hand. Thanks in advance. I have purchased carb kits from Mike's. He was helpful in finding the kit for my Rolls and I have purchased kits for my Chrysler.

Send him the model of your carb and He will suggest the rebuild kit needed.

The difference between the various BB carbs can be as simple as jetting.  FWIW, the kit came with multiple gaskets for various places and is listed as pretty much covering all BB carbs from 39-54 per the Walker catalog.  the kit worked fine for me but since there are multiple gaskets choices for each section you need to match them up before you remove the old gasket.  Then verify that the new choice actually is the right one for the carb, someone may have used a wrong one in the past.

Ditto on Mike’s. I bought a kit for the carb on my 1958 230; Worked like a champ.

Your missing your choke bracket and linkage rod for the fast idle too. I'd guess Mike's probably has some spares lying around. Might be best to send it to him if you're set on rebuilding this one.

Idk if you've seen it but for about $65 you can get a new yf type that goes on with ease and works wonderfully. If just to use in the meantime. Mine has made me regret ever rebuilding the BB, metering is superior and it's more responsive IMO.

I really like that idea and did find a few YF carbs for sale. I see that they fit some Jeeps, Willys, Ford, and Dodge for many years. As long as the 2 bolt flange/neck is the same, I will have no problem connecting the fuel and choke. Summit even has one with an electric choke. I also found some aftermarket ones (made in China) brand name of SherryBurg which were cheaper but I think I'll stay with Carters or at least a USA made/remanufactured one.  Many thanks and take care. I used , I'm pretty sure a Chinese made, partol. Made for a Ford 75-82. Saw some rebuilt actual Carter yfa's for around the same price but opted for new. I imagine the knockoff yfas with electric choke would be good too but I've kept my 6v and don't like running extra wires so I stuck with warm air auto choke.

 

 Like bbdakota I ground off the ball stud on the linkage, drilled it a hair and put the Plymouth ball stud in there.  Ran some steel fuel line off the auto choke down by the manifold for warm air and there it was, worked like a charm.
