Conn47D24 Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 (edited) Still tweaking parts ahead of assembly . Dual Horns - Auto-Lite HT 4007 and HT 4008 all cleaned, painted , and adjusted. No sound after 30+ years of sitting, and 40+ years of use prior to that. Fine file, and emery cloth on contacts. Then followed service manual instructions, turning adjt screw slightly till sound is steady. Easy task if you don't drop and loose any of the tiny pieces ! desoto1939 Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 Clay, Rich Hartung, It is a very very fine adjustment with the screw. It take time and a lot of small in and out turns. I had the same issue on my 39 Desoto but I finally got them both to work. This is a great winter project since you can do this type of work in the house so long as the wife and or kids do not mind the sound of the horn going off and on. Rich 1 Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 What I have found is that your supplied voltage may differ on the work bench compared to the voltage available under the hood of your car . So it may need further adjustment after installation . Quote
Conn47D24 Posted November 12, 2019 Author Report Posted November 12, 2019 Yes, thought I had it a few times but more nudging was required. Good thought. I'll hold off on the grill until I'm sure of the horns. Quote
