allanp Posted May 23, 2019 Report Posted May 23, 2019 Hoping someone can help me with some info. I have replaced the engine and I have all the wiring connection done but have an issue. All of my pictures of how it was prior to taking apart have been lost so I don't have a reference to look back on. Maybe someone has good pictures of their truck or has wiring diagrams. When trying to start, I have melted the wire between coil and distributor. Not sure if this is correct but I have positive ground connected at 6v battery. Negative to starter. distributor connected to negative at coil. Wiring harness to coil positive (what looks like red wire to positive). One wire from harness to starter. 2 wires from harness to generator. Thanks in advance. Allan Quote
ggdad1951 Posted May 23, 2019 Report Posted May 23, 2019 Below you will find a link to all things wiring harness layout I think you might need for a B3: http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/wiring_harness/wiring.htm I don't know how close it would be for a 54 Fargo. Quote
allanp Posted May 23, 2019 Author Report Posted May 23, 2019 Thanks, What is 'RA' 'GA' 'AM' on the coil? what is positive and negative side? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted May 23, 2019 Report Posted May 23, 2019 RA, GA, and AM is on the ignition switch. RA = Radio, GA = Gauges (and coil), and AM = Ammeter (voltage input) Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted May 23, 2019 Report Posted May 23, 2019 Positive (+)side of coil connects to the distributor... .IGN SW connects to the negative (-) side of the coil Your truck is a positive ground system. Quote
