Torque Specs on Cam and Cam Timing Gear

Have a 218 flathead.  Looked at all my manuals and can't find the torque specs for the 3 bolts on the cam timing gear and the 2 bolts that attach the cam to the block.  Anyone know what these should be torqued at?

Think I torqued mine to 18lb/ft.  I don’t recall a torque spec in the book either, but torque specs should hold from application to application.   Just follow a torque schedule like the above.

Yes, the FSM was for pro mechanics who were supposed to know torquing specs of standard fasteners.

Suggest you purchase a machinist handbook. It will have torque specifications for all sizes of hardware.

I also suggest if you building this for a friend, start and run up the bolts, but let the owner do the final torque.....there are two very valid reasonings for this advice.....lol
