TylerB46 Posted January 5, 2019 Report Posted January 5, 2019 Hello, I just installed new main bearings on my 230, and I noticed the last one at the back of the engines hole covers up above half on the oiler hole in the block. Is this okay? Quote
P15-D24 Posted January 6, 2019 Report Posted January 6, 2019 No it supplies lubrication to the bearing. Try reversing the bearings. Quote

It’s the right bearing for that spot and with the tang it can only go the way it’s installed, looking at the old one it had kind of an oval hole in the bearing where as the new one has a large round one, but it covers half the hole on the block. Radarsonwheels Posted January 6, 2019 Report Posted January 6, 2019 (edited) It’s only metal don’t be afraid to open the hole a little. You can gently scrape any burrs off when you’re done. Edited January 6, 2019 by Radarsonwheels Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 6, 2019 Report Posted January 6, 2019 The new bearings should look just like the old bearings and fit the block and rod holes correctly. Hopefully you don't have a set of new Chinese replacement no name bearings. You also need to check the new bearings for oil clerance. Don't just assume they have correct oil clearnce both mainrod and cam. Quote
