50Dodge Posted December 17, 2018 Report Posted December 17, 2018 Recently purchased a 1950 Dodge Coronet and I am going through all of the fluids. Shop manual says to use 10w engine oil in Gyromatic. What type are you folks using? I am having a hard time finding 10w straight. Thanks in advance. Quote
dpollo Posted December 17, 2018 Report Posted December 17, 2018 This topic was covered very thoroughly on this forum some digging will turn it up. Dodgeb4ya has the best info. Myself, I would leave the Fluid Drive unit alone and use Atf in the .transmission Quote
Phil Martin Posted December 17, 2018 Report Posted December 17, 2018 I got 10wt oil at farm and home store. Quote
Doug&Deb Posted December 17, 2018 Report Posted December 17, 2018 I use floor jack oil in my 52 Coronet. Easy to find and no problems with it. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted December 17, 2018 Report Posted December 17, 2018 The factory service info says 10W engine oil for the hydrauically operated transmissions.. I've even run 30 W in them for racing. Quote
1949 Wraith Posted December 18, 2018 Report Posted December 18, 2018 I have bought 10 weight oil at Tractor Supply Company. Not seeing it on the web site but it was their Travellers brand. Maybe check with a local store and see if they can still get it. Quote
50Dodge Posted December 23, 2018 Author Report Posted December 23, 2018 Thanks for all the feedback. I put the car up on the lift and both the rear end and trans are full of fluid now. Quote
