Mario Loya B1B Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Any one out there have a working 6V generator for my 49 B1B that they would be willing to sell. I'm getting a price of $170- $200 to have mine rebuilt Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 WOW!!! How bad is your's? I had both my generator and starter cleaned and gone through for that price. I do have a spare gen, but I can't confirm it's condition. Merle Quote
greg g Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 For that kinda money, you can get a 6v positive alternator if originality isn't an issue. they are available through many F*ord Model A sites. Quote
Mario Loya B1B Posted August 31, 2007 Author Report Posted August 31, 2007 WOW! has been my reaction to the cost to get a number of things fixed on my truck. I am at my utter limit, but I told the mechanic to go ahead with the generator rebuild. Thanks for the offer Merle. I will keep you in mind as a second alternative. I saw one on eBay a few weeks ago that went for $80. i of course didn't think I was going to be needing it. I may have to do what I suspect some of you guys do and stockpile parts. Quote
oldmopar Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 One other thought you said your mechanic, having someone get ,fix and install parts adds a lot of overhead to the price. Many here do there own work which keep the price down. Ed Quote
Bill pilot99 Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 I have one that was working when I took it off, I put on a 12 volt one. You can have it for a few $ plus shipping. pilot99@alltel.net Quote
