fmfarrisjr Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 Where is the fuse located on a D-24 model 802 radio? I tried repairing the vibrator -- no luck. Before I order a new vibrator, I want to make sure there is power going to the radio. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 are you saying you tried to repair a radio without first seeing if it had power....odd approach......fuse should be inline on the input power wire to the radio a few inches outside of the radio case.. Quote
fmfarrisjr Posted June 30, 2018 Author Report Posted June 30, 2018 I had the same problem with a vibrator on a 1950 Chrysler Windsor radio so I just assumed the vibrator was at fault. Quote
Mark D Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 The fuse is the old glass tube style, and as Tim stated would be on the power lead. Original style would be steel jacketed, about 5/16” in diameter and 1-1/2” long. Quote
insaneradio Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 Did the dial light illuminate? If so than fuse is good. Quote
fmfarrisjr Posted July 2, 2018 Author Report Posted July 2, 2018 Yes the dial does light -- looks like I will be buying a new vibrator today. Thanks for that comment! Quote
Silverdome Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 May I ask how you tried to repair the vibrator? Quote
insaneradio Posted July 3, 2018 Report Posted July 3, 2018 FWIW I am an avid antique radio collector/restorer. If your set has not been serviced it will need to be. The old wax/paper caps will need to be replaced as well as resistors checked etc. You might get lucky and have the set play after vibrator replacement however it will not be reliable or safe Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 3, 2018 Report Posted July 3, 2018 where are you located Mr Insane Radio man???? Do you do the fm conversions on old 802 radios? Quote
fmfarrisjr Posted July 3, 2018 Author Report Posted July 3, 2018 In response to Silverdome -- see attached. vibrator Waking Up.doc.pdf Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted July 4, 2018 Report Posted July 4, 2018 OK thanks. I have a nice radio that had worked not too long ago, but i do not get anything from it now. Changed the vibrator but nothing happened. Guess it needs caps, etc........ Quote
