Skrambler Posted April 11, 2017 Report Posted April 11, 2017 Hello All. I would like some input, please. I have four, yes four collector cars that I need to have moved 2020 miles from Pennsylvania to Arizona. I also am looking for a Company that will be using a enclosed trailer, a must. This is not an immediate task, I am flexible with pick-up, and delivery times over the next couple of months. I also have been warned about Companies that use different Drivers, and load and unload the cars during the way onto other trailers. Obviously this is unacceptable in my case. Any leads or input on this matter is welcomed! Thanks again Guys. Quote

I spoke with Jim a couple weeks ago. I agree he would be a good man to do the job, but for one thing. He only has a 34 foot trailer that could only haul two cars with an 8K capacity. So he would have to make 2 round trips!. Thanks for your reply though! Quote

knuckleharley Posted April 11, 2017 Report Posted April 11, 2017 I've only done this twice, and had so much luck at it that I now either go get it myself,or I don't buy it. Quote
Mark D Posted April 11, 2017 Report Posted April 11, 2017 I buy and ship cars several (10+) times a year. Mostly short distances, but sometimes coast to coast. I've had good luck with uShip.com auctions. It's essentially a reverse auction tool that allows transporters to bid for your business. You can make a four car shipment part of your requirement and it will also allow you to stipulate enclosed trailers. 1 Quote

I have used uship a couple of times myself to have stuff like a 42 Dodge front clip on a pallet delivered to me. The other time I used it to ship a 2-speed Columbia rear to a buyer in Texas. Or more correctly, the guy in Texas used them to pick it up to bring to him. In case you don't know, you put out a request for a bid on the U-Ship site telling truckers exactly what it is you need moved, where you are,if you have a commercial address where the 18 wheeler can get around, and where and when you want it delivered, and truckers that will be in your area and going to the area you want it delivered anyway, will bid on hauling it and compete with each other. If you can catch a couple with enclosed trailers that will be in your area and looking at deadheading it back home to the area where you want them delivered, you can get a hell of a price. The only downside is these are all independent truckers, not employees of a large nationwide firm you can sue if things go wrong. Quote
busycoupe Posted April 11, 2017 Report Posted April 11, 2017 (edited) I have had Thomas Sunday Transport out of Pennsylvania move vehicles twice. The first time was in March 2011 I had my 48 Dodge and my wife's 2004 Chrysler Sebring moved from Massachusetts to North Carolina. Then last October we moved back to Massachusetts and I had them move my Dodge and a motorcycle. Both times the service was exceptional. They use closed vans and the driver picks up the vehicles and delivers them at the other end. Price wise they seem to be in line with the other major carriers. I recommend them highly.
