Dan C Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 Has anyone converted the rear quarter roll up windows to fixed windows? If so, how? Is glass available or does it have to be custom cut? What about rubber? Quote
desoto1939 Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 This is just flat glass and can be cut at any good auto glass shop. Since it was not originally a fixed window you are going to have to experiment and find a rubber gasket maybe the front windshield gasket might work. Rich Hartung Quote
knuckleharley Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 (edited) I don't understand the problem. Why can't you just roll the window up all the way,pin or braze the gear into place so it can't turn, and then cut off the extension where the window crank goes so nothing protrudes? What am I missing/not understanding? Edited March 8, 2017 by knuckleharley 1 Quote
rb1949 Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 Similar thoughts ........... roll it up and take the handle off. Quote
casper50 Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 maybe he wants it to roll up and down. I know I would. Quote

casper50 Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 (edited) I believe he means one piece of glass not two. of course I'm most likely wrong. Edited March 8, 2017 by casper50 Quote

Dan C Posted March 8, 2017 Author Report Posted March 8, 2017 The regulator on one side is locked up and broken on the other. I just figured one piece of rubber would be cheaper and not a lot of things to replace. I have together new glass anyway. Quote
desoto1939 Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 get new regualtor I can provide the numbers that you need. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com Quote
busycoupe Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 Fixed glass, like windshields and rear windows, are held in by rubber hooked over a metal lip on the frame of the window. Roll down windows have grooves in the frame, and fuzzy wipers on the garnish molding to hold the glass. If you waned to convert a roll down window to fixed glass, I can think that you would have to weld in some metal edges to hook the rubber gasket to. It may be much simpler to replace or repair your broken window mechanisms. Quote
