p24-1953 Posted February 5, 2017 Report Posted February 5, 2017 I just rebuilt and installed a philco 937x underdash radio in the 40 and it has a lot of ignition noise when the car is running. What can I check or do to correct this? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 5, 2017 Report Posted February 5, 2017 what ignition cables are you running....next area of concern is if you still running a generator are you filtering that output (whine) you can slip the belt for a minute to try to distinguish between ign. and charging... Quote
plymouthcranbrook Posted February 5, 2017 Report Posted February 5, 2017 If they still make them, resistor plugs often eliminated this problem in ancient times when you wanted to run non resistor wires Quote
desoto1939 Posted February 5, 2017 Report Posted February 5, 2017 on the generator you willneed to install a radio suppression condenser. These can be found at your local NAPA store. This breaks the static that is being created by the generator. Also you can get another type od suppressor that goes inot the top of the dizzy cap from the large coil wire. It just inserts intot he top of the cap where the wire comes from the dissy and then it is screwed intot he the same wire. Rich Hartung desoto1939@aol.com Quote
p24-1953 Posted February 5, 2017 Author Report Posted February 5, 2017 My wires are replacements from Roberts and I have the capacitor on the generator but I am wondering if they can go bad after a while. That will be the first thing I replace I guess. Quote
