Or, are any auto parts stores able to ge me front brake shoes for my 52 1/2 ton. I know I can get them from Andy B and maybe Roberts but they always want a pretty substantial core charge which is a hassle. I know I can have my old ones relined but that takes some time too.

Reg I don't think they are available anymore. Only option as far as I know is the relined ones. I just got mine back for the front of my coupe. Hopefully that will cure the squeaking! The core charge for the place we use up here is $100.00.

I had my rear brakes relined at a brake store in Des Moines for less than $50.00. No core charge because you're giving them your original shoes and you can inspect them when you pick them up in case there's an issue. They've been in business for years. Of course you'd have freight on top of it.

For your brake shoes try you local NAPA dealer. I did a brake job a few years ago and they got me everything(shoes, seals, cylinders etc) within a few days. You may have to find one that still uses books and not just the computers.

Reg,

Got a full set of lined shoes - fronts and rears - from Andy. No cores requested for either shoes or cylinders. Shoes were stamped "NEW" on the webs and wheel cylinders were also new - nothing rebuilt - even the master cylinder. Of course he removes all these new parts from their boxeds and ships them in zip lock bags, which is okay, but we all would sorta' like to know what part of Mexico he is gettimg them made in. Mine work fine and I'm pleased. AND he was about half the price of NAPA which handles Reybestor. JMHO

Good Luck

PS Had to grind a skotch off the leading edges of the rear shoes to get the drums to go on - musta' been a tad oversized, but no other problems.:)
