Jamiejimbob Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 Hi I need a new master cylinder for my 45 dodge pickup. As I'm in the UK I have to order from the US. Before I order an original replacement do you guys know of an upgraded version of the original master without modifying and replumbing the brake system. If not who's the best supplier in US to get one from. Thanks in advance Jamie. Quote
Brent B3B Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 Give DCM a shout. https://dcmclassics.com/brake-parts/71-br-231-master-cylinder-1-2-to-1-ton.html?search_query=Brake&results=43 Quote
NiftyFifty Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 The dual reservoir master that a lot of us use from the Cherokees work great, but do require some modifications, but IMO well worth it over the stock one. Quote

NiftyFifty Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 You need to build a small plate that mounts to the stock holes, and then gives the new master 2 new mounting studs, or I think some have just drilled holes and bolted it through...best is to do a forum search...the one under my username is the process I did, with pictures. You also need to make up new line ends likely, or possibly extend yours...I started my whole system from scratch, so it was different for me Quote
Young Ed Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 what era cherokee? I'm headed to a upull yard and would like to grab one for mockup. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 (edited) I took mine off a 96, but others have said they found some to be different then mine...but I think it all depended on model, and sometimes where it was built. Mine looks like the pic I attached, but if your going to run the Rusty front disc kit, make sure you take the proportioning valve too....if your going to continue with all drums, you will need a residual valve for the rear brakes, too make sure they don't leak, and a adjustable proportioning valve Edited July 22, 2016 by 4mula-dlx Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 There is probably someone in the UK that will sleeve your existing master cylinder , ether in brass or stainless steel . That would make your master cylinder better than new . Quote
