shaun Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Hi I am working on my recently acquired 1951 Pilot House Dodge. The rear axle has been swapped out at some point in the past and I am unsure what it is from. It would be good to know so that I can order brake parts. I can not find a tag of any numbers other that the cast ones. It looks to have had rear coil springs the conversion to leaf is crude but it seems to have worked for some time. Can anybody tell what it might be from. Cast Numbers 207074123 then a triangle. Thanks Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 this was just mentioned today in another thread....clean the boss atop the hoghead and numbers could be expressed in gear tooth count example 11/43 would be 3.9 1 Quote
JBNeal Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Rear coil springs could be a '67-'72 GM 1/2 ton axle...wish I could remember where I read that 70s GM axles used practically the same U-joint as the early B-series, haven't got around to confirming that yet 1 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 that I believe you will find is the Mopar 8 3/4...and is of the "741" strength case....look online under for more information that you can use. Quote
shaun Posted April 19, 2016 Author Report Posted April 19, 2016 From the casting numbers it is from a Dodge A100 Ordered the wheel cylinders based on this and they were correct. 1 Quote
John-T-53 Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 If the top two bolts holding the differential case (a.k.a. hoghead...lol)) to the axle housing are close together, then it's probably a mopar 8 3/4" Quote
